Ovarian PRP for infertility
Education on the latest scientific evidence and future prospects of PRP application for ovarian function by Dr. Elias Tsakos!
Another year of successful scientific collaboration of EmbryoClinic and the European Fertility Society comes to a successful end. The last webinar of the series MyIVFanswers for 2024 was available live for specialists, patients and the public on the 24th of September, on the subject of Ovarian PRP. PRP, aka platelet-rich plasma, is a 100% natural product derived from peripheral blood processing and possesses regenerative and therapeutic properties.
Dr. Elias Tsakos, using simple and comprehensible terms, presented the PRP preparation process, the different administration routes and the latest scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of this intervention. In brief, he discussed the beneficial effect of PRP on the number of follicles, collected oocytes, mature oocyte rate and fertilization rate, giving hope to couples and women suffering from premature ovarian insufficiency. Additionally, he summarized ongoing experimental studies which may indicate a potential role of PRP, in combination with other treatments, in the regeneration of the ovaries and the formation of new oocytes, via activation of ovarian primordial stem cells.
